Voices of Peace, Unity, and Social Justice:

The Jerusalem Youth Chorus, Tonality, and Ari Afsar in Concert

Valley Beth Shalom Synagogue – Encino, CA

January 12, 7:00-8:30 pm

The Jerusalem Youth Chorus is a choral and dialogue program for Israeli and Palestinian youth.Featured for its innovative musicianship and integrity of purpose and process on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and the Forbes 30 Under 30, the Jerusalem Youth Chorus empowers youth in Jerusalem with the responsibility to speak and sing their truths, as they become leaders in their communities and inspire singers and listeners around the world to work for peace, justice, inclusion, and equality.

Tonality is a deliberately diverse professional choral ensemble in Los Angeles whose groundbreaking performances address themes of social justice through music and in-concert community engagement. Established with the idea that we are all one people, Tonality performs a variety of pieces in various languages and musical styles in an effort to unify communities through social outreach and serve as a beacon of peace and understanding.

Ari Afsar is a singer and actor who played Elizabeth Schuyler in the Chicago production of Hamilton as well as performing on American Idol, Miss America, and opening for Michelle Obama at the United State of Women. She is a passionate activist on women’s rights and other issues.

On January 12, 2020, these artists will be joining their voices for a truly special concert collaboration in Los Angeles to promote peace, unity, and social justice, in Jerusalem, LA, and around the world. The concert will involve not only musical performances and storytelling, but will actively engage our audience members in the co-creation of music and the sharing of their own stories, to amplify the resonance of all of our voices within and outside of the concert hall.
