About the speaker:

Brig. General E. John “Dragon” Teichert (MIT 1994) is the head of the 412th test wing and the commander of Edwards Air Force Base. In this capacity, he oversees aircraft testing and development for the United States Air Force.

Gen. Teichert grew up on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. He studied Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT where he received his commission in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps and then completed a Masters at Stanford. Gen. Teichert has logged more than 2000 hours as a pilot and held a number of positions in the Air Force, focusing on aircraft testing, operations, and instruction. For example, he previously commanded the squadron at Edwards Air Force Base responsible for the F-22 Raptor developmental test and evaluation. During an assignment in Washington DC, he served as a legislative liaison for DoD special programs and later as the commander of Joint Base Andrews. A full biography and list of his many past assignments is available here.
